Window Protection Units for Challenging Environments
Finding effective window protection units for challenging environments can be difficult. Common solutions—such as secondary glazing or standard window guards—often fail. They may shatter on impact, allow climbing, or aren’t designed for high-use, demanding settings. Searches like “stop climbing,” “protect windows,” and “secondary glazing that won’t smash” reflect the real concerns of families, carers, and professionals.
Purpose-Built Anti-Climb Window Protection
Our Window Protection Units are designed to address these challenges. They can be fitted within the window reveal where space allows, or surface-mounted to the room’s internal wall if a recessed fit isn’t possible. Either installation creates a robust barrier that reduces climbing risks, prevents costly glazing damage, and helps safeguard users and carers—all without compromising the look or feel of the space.
The units feature a solid ash timber frame and 6 mm tough polycarbonate. Unlike glass, the polycarbonate has flex under impact, which absorbs and distributes force, preventing breakage while maintaining visibility. This makes it highly durable and ideal for high-use, demanding environments. An integrated locking door allows safe and controlled access to curtains and blinds.
Blinds, Curtains, and Ventilation
Blinds and curtains can be used with the units, provided the window reveal is deep enough to accommodate them. Ventilation holes allow the external window to be opened and then safely secured behind the protection unit, maintaining airflow without compromising safety.
Customisable Design in Natural or White Ash
The units are fully customisable, available in multiple configurations and bespoke sizes, with performance consistent across finishes. The natural ash features a clear satin oil‑wax finish, while the white ash has a durable water‑based satin finish. Both finishes provide a breathable, low-sheen surface that is flexible, resistant to peeling or flaking, and suitable for challenging environments. The white ash can be used as supplied or as a base coat for painting, while natural ash retains its timber look.
