A Birmingham based property company specialising in redevelopment and refurbishment projects bought a former care home for the elderly in the West Midlands with a vision of converting it into a unit for people suffering with an eating disorder. Tough Furniture helped turn that vision into reality.
The company approached Tough Furniture’s Sales Director Nigel Lester in early December 2021 for preliminary discussions on furniture for the new unit and soon site drawings were sent over for Tough to populate to an agreed specification and list of requirements.
Our experienced in-house Design Team, led by Stephen Physick, worked on designs for the bedrooms and communal areas such as the lounge, reception, dining rooms and a multifunction education room. The furniture solutions the team came up with were a mixture of bespoke fitted units for the bedrooms and freestanding furniture for the shared spaces. The proposals were then presented and agreed with the client.
We are always keen to welcome customers to our headquarters in the beautiful Shropshire countryside so they can see first-hand how and where our products are made and meet the Tough Furniture team. In this instance the client chose to carry out a virtual factory visit which was conducted over Zoom.
In February 2022 the client placed their order for various furniture items including:
- 16 x Bedroom furniture – beds, headboards, mattresses, wardrobes (some with sloping tops), bedside cabinets, chairs, and desks
- Lounge & Dining room furniture including a De-escalation sofa
- Reception furniture, Education room furniture
- Stools, Beanbags, TV Cabinets and Padded window seating.
The furniture was delivered and installed by Tough Furniture in June. With their usual attention to detail and commitment to ensuring all our furniture is as durable as possible, the Tough Furniture fitting team used anti-pick mastic.
