David Lewis is a modern, forward-thinking charity with a track record and reputation built over 100 years. They are based in Cheshire, and provide a range of educational, residential, and medical services to support adults and young people with complex needs, including learning disabilities, epilepsy, and autism.
As a long-standing supplier of specialist furniture to the charity, we were first approached in April 2022 to work with them on a series of refurbishments to their kitchens in various properties. This year they came to us for more upgrades to their kitchen spaces in 3 & 4 Consort Close.
The kitchens were designed specifically to fit the space perfectly, taking into account existing windows, French doors to the back garden and electrical appliances.
All cabinets were made out of 18mm Melamine Faced MDF with Cream coloured carcases and a Dove Grey finish on all doors, drawers and end panels. The carcases and panels were then edged in matching PU glued edging tape to provide maximum moisture resistance. The doors all had heavy duty hinges with 170 degree opening and full adjustability.
All the drawers and doors were fitted with locks and a Grasmere Oak worktop and splashback concluded the look.
As with all our kitchens, all drawers are made out of 12mm plywood (including the bottoms) and run on strong steel runners with a 40kg weight rating. They are also fitted with hardened restraints to prevent removal from cabinet.
